The pandemic has ignited a long string of triggers of fear, worry and stressors in people across nationality, levels of education, income or gender. Higher education intuitions were no exception and the virus’s onslaught on the mental health of students is huge and needs to be addressed immediately and effectively. The student counselling services at Pazhassiraja College pay special attention to this scenario and identify students in need of mental support due to the pandemic crisis and offer all possible assistance for them to overcome their struggles.

Confidentiality
Information shared during counselling is confidential, including the fact that the student has accessed counselling. Personal health information is not disclosed to college faculty or staff, parents, or other persons and agencies without the student’s written permission. There are however a few ethical and legal limitations to confidentiality that the clinician will discuss with the student during the first contact session.
Approach
A brief and change-oriented treatment approach is used. The number of sessions required depends on the treatment plan. Although this number is not capped, it has been found that, on average, functional outcomes are often attained within 3 to 8 sessions
